  • The Town of Ogunquit Select Board has authorized the Town Manager to work with the MWPF to develop a plan to maximize the use of benches in the Ogunquit community.  The Marginal Way Preservation Fund 501(c)(3) non-profit organization is looking to hire a part-time Associate Director who would be responsible for developing the bench program with the Town. This hire would also conduct research, develop reports, and collaborate with key stakeholders to outline the program and develop relationships with interested donor prospects.     Job Title – Associate Director, Bench Program
    Job Description: The Marginal Way Preservation Fund is looking to hire a Business Development Director who will work with the Town of Ogunquit to develop a Bench Program.
    Status – Part Time 
    Reporting – The Associate Director will report to the Executive Director.
     
    Introduction
    ·      The Town of Ogunquit Select Board has authorized the Town Manager to work with the MWPF to develop a plan to maximize the value and use of benches on the Marginal Way and surrounding areas.  This part-time would be responsible for developing the bench program with the Town.
     
    This hire would also conduct research, develop reports, and collaborate with key stakeholders to outline the program and develop relationships with interested donor prospects. The objective of this role will include:
    ·      Create a report on the local inventory of benches, current conditions, and make recommendations for improvement.
    ·      Developing a list of individuals who are interested in the bench program and work on outreach with the Executive Director.
    ·      Communications with Town Officials, Chamber of Commerce and Major Businesses in the Town of OGT
     
    Ideal Candidate Profile
    o   Local resident of OGT or surrounding areas with community ties
    o   Shared passion for the MWPF and our mission
    o   Strong organizational skills
    o   Strong written and verbal skills
    o   Comfortable using Excel, Word and PowerPoint
    o   Experience with woodworking, contractors and general repairs
     
    Phase 1 - Objective - Conduct research and compile a report on the following items:
    o   Take an inventory of all benches.
    o   Create a GPS location tag for each bench.
    o   Develop a profile of the condition of each bench.
    o   Identify the owner of each bench (based on name on plaque)
    o   Conduct internet and other research to identify a living next of kin for each bench.
    o   Reach-out to next of kin to explain the objectives of the bench program and determine their level of interest in supporting the goals
     
    Milestones
    o   Take an inventory of all benches.
    o   Create a GPS location tag for each bench
    o   Develop a profile of the condition of each bench.
    o   Identify the owner of each bench (based on name on plaque)
    o   Conduct internet and other research to identify a living next of kin for each bench – February 2022
    o   Reach-out to next of kin to explain the objectives of the bench program and determine their level of interest in supporting the program March 2022
    o   Develop a report that the ED and BOD can use to support the Town Manager and Selectboard decision
     
    Phase 2 - Objective - Develop an Outbound Bench Sales Campaign
    ·      Under the direction of the ED the Associate Director will develop an outbound bench purchase campaign to include the following elements:
    o   Develop a target list of potential bench donors via:
    o  Develop a list of individuals who are interested in the bench program and work on outreach with the Executive Director.
    o  Discussions with Town Officials, Chamber of Commerce and Major Businesses in the Town of OGT
    o   Develop alternative sources to source qualified leads (TBD)
    o   Completing and maintaining a plaque pipeline report
    o   Completing and maintaining an ongoing active call report that describes interaction with the potential donor
    o   For the avoidance of doubt, inbound bench inquiries will be handled by the current ED
     
    Milestones
    o  First 6 months – Complete effort to develop a list of 500 leads.
    o  First 6 months – Complete sales pipeline development efforts and begin reporting
    o  First 12 months post phase 1 – Close 10 bench sales
    o  Second 12 months – Close 20 bench sales
     
    Measuring Success
    Success is a function of several milestones including:
    o   Developing and maintaining a robust list of potential target bench donors
    o   Developing and maintaining a robust bench pipeline
    o   Completed bench purchases
