They can also be better indicators of ecological and evolutionary change than their free-living hosts. In this presentation\, Dr. April Blakeslee will explain how studying parasites can aid in conservation and restoration efforts. Blakeslee is an associate professor of biology at East Carolina University with more than 50 peer-reviewed papers and book chapters to her credit. She is a member of the Working Group on Introduction and Transfers of Marine Organisms through the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea and is vice president of the Eastern North Carolina chapter of Graduate Women in Science.
